Reginald the Postcat

Reginald is a cat who loves the postal service. He has dreamed of being a postal employee for quite some time now. There is only one problem. Postmaster General John E. Potter does not like cats. He used to like cats. That is until he had a walking route in western Indiana. Western Indiana has some of the most rowdy stray cats known to man. Mr. Potter has based his hate on a few unruly strays and now Reginald has to suffer. I have written Mr. Potter many times telling him about Reginald and his dream of being a postcat. Mr. Potter has only responded once and he said he will never change his mind. He told me cats will never have a place in the US Postal Service. If you have a chance please write him and tell him you would love to see Reginald delivering mail. Reginald will be forever grateful.

New friend
I met a new friend at the park. She was rummaging through a pile of scrolls when I came upon her. I took her out for some milk and she drank nearly an entire gallon! I love a cat that can drink a lot of milk. I wish that I could keep her but she seems to have a problem. I have had her at my house for nearly a week and she has not had a bowel movement. That is a deal breaker for me so I will have to send her back to the streets. She is a felis cuteus though isn't she?Dr. Prichart Garbow

Bjorn

I met Bjorn while working abroad last winter. Every morning he had the same routine. He would walk through the local shooting range just for kicks. Then he would find some children. He would look as cute as possible drawing the children closer. When they were close enough he would jump and try and jump from head to head. The most heads I ever witnessed him jump on in one attempt was 7. The children were horrified. After all that work it was time for Bjorn to refuel. I have never seen another cat with a diet like Bjorn's. Bjorn would drink 5 cups of coffee everyday. After his coffee Bjorn would dig tunnels through the snow. Sometimes he would tunnel for fun other times it would be to spy on Ms. Fratelli. I never understood why Bjorn enjoyed spying on Ms. Fratelli so much. I hope to go back and visit Bjorn this winter and perhaps discover why Bjorn is so fascinated with old lumpy Ms. Fratelli

Cat Safety
Everyone who travels with their cat should own one of these.
As a cat falls it first turns its head to an upright position and then the body follows so that it is in position for a four-point landing. However, if a cat is deeply asleep on a window ledge and rolls off without waking, it may be too late to bring the righting mechanism into operation and the cat may be injured. It is advisable, therefore, to protect window ledges or discourage cats from sleeping on them.
We all know how dangerous sewing thread can be for our feline friends. I want to warn you of another potential hazard that is possibly used by more people and more accessible- dental floss. My friend decided to take her cat to the veterinarian after it had been vomiting and not eating. The veterinarian questioned my friend at length, then ran exhaustive tests. Finally, an x-ray using dye revealed that the cat had swallowed a threadlike substance. Two extensive operations later, a long strand of dental floss was removed. A common place to discard dental floss is in the bathroom wastebasket, where the cat found it. I have to admit that before learning of this incident, I, too, discarded dental floss in easy reach of my curious cat. Believe me, I now make sure I discard it far out of sight.
I hope this helps keep your felines safe!

Colonel Percy Boomer

Colonel Percy Boomer joined the army at the ripe age of 1. He killed many dogs in the great war of Smyrna. He was such a natural killer he was promoted to Colonel his second day in the army. He was an integral part of the battle of Countryside Place. His entire platoon deserted him. He was not daunted by the fact that he was the only cat fighting against over 200 canines. He clawed, bit, and scratched his way to victory. After the dust settled, other cats slowly made their way back to the battle field and could not believe their eyes. They found Colonel Percy Boomer standing amid 200 vanquished foes. There was only one thing different, Colonel PB was missing an eye. There are many stories of how it was lost but most scholars believe the Colonel scratched it out himself. The Colonel retired that day and was awarded three purple hearts. He built his home on the battle field and still lives there today.

Mr. Zimmerman

Robert Zimmerman has long been an advocate of cats everywhere. This picture was taken in my studio in 1965. At the time I was not aware that Mr. Zimmerman liked cats. When Sigvard wandered into the studio I apologized but Robert said there was no need and soon started dancing like a cat. There are many more photos from this shoot but I cannot post them until Sigvard returns from his journey to Örebro.

Succotash the brave
I was visiting a dear friend and her cat decided to assert her dominance by being the highest in the room. Succotash has the grace of a thousand swans. As she was navigating her way along the door she fell and i believe she cracked her sternum. Even in the midst if such a terrible accident she was still the most graceful animal i have ever seen.

sunbeam's dream
Sunbeam is known for her crazy dreams. As a kitten she often dreamed of food or hunting but as she grew into a full grown lioness things changed. Her dreams became heavily influenced by catnip and she would do crazy things. One day i came home from a long shift and i found her in my dryer. Somehow she managed to turn the dryer on and she ran along inside much like a hamster in its wheel. I was very impressed but also very worried. Then about a week later she told me she no longer liked cats and ran away with a dog. I was heartbroken to say the least. Sunbeam I Miss you and your crazy dreams. Come on home you crazy cat.Dr. Prichart Garbow

Mark Gonzales

The cat in these pictures is named Mark Gonzales. He is an excellent hunter. Note his textbook prowling technique in the first photo. He stalked this particular chipmunk for two days without it noticing. He is however a vegetarian he only hunts for sport. As soon as he draws blood the game is over. I commend him for this. It brings joy to the little animals as well. In the last photo the chipmunk almost looks sad that their friendship has come to an end. Don't worry though they will be reunited soon enough Marky Gonzo always comes back to play with old friends.Dr. Prichart Garbow

Surgery

This is a cat i had many years ago, hence the black and white photograph. I was studying to become a brain surgeon so Surgery seemed like the perfect cat name at the time. He was a very talkative cat and we used to have many conversations late into the night. I'm not sure what ever became of old Surgery though. One day he quit talking and a week later he left with no explanation. I often think that he left because our conversations were not intellectually stimulating enough for him, it makes me sad. I have seen pictures of a similar cat on a farm in Kansas. I like to imagine that Surgery moved to that farm in Kansas to perform surgery on other farm animals. If that is the case then I am glad he left. The farm animals need him more than i do.

Ring Bearer
Several years ago a young man was getting married. All his life he had dreamed of this day and how he wished his cat could somehow be a part of this momentous occasion. He decided he would let his cat be his ring bearer. That young man soon grew into a full grown man named Dr. Prichart Garbow, me. My wedding was the highlight of my life because my favorite cat was a part of it. If you aren't married yet and own a cat you should consider having your own cat as your ring bearer. It is most rewarding. Dr. Richard Werch was a great ring bearer. May he rest in peace.

Felis catus

This is a blog about how much i love cats.
Felis catus, or cats as we like to call them, are valued for their companionship. We humans love them for many different reasons. The cat in the photograph above was mentally handicapped that is the reason she was most loved. She was struck by lightning a mere 20 minutes after this photograph was taken, that is why i named her Sanqeuah. She was quite the character, one time she grew cancerous lumps on her back. I thought it was the cutest thing. We also value cats for their pest hunting abilities. Sanqeuah was a warrior princess when it came to hunting chipmunks. Many a chipmunk met death in her jaws. Sadly Sanqeuah is no longer with us. Well internet friends check back daily for more cat news!
